Verified studies and research

The respiratory muscles are important

However, in a series of experiments, scientists at the University of Wisconsin found that the inspiratory muscles, when subjected to fatiguing load (breathing against additional external resistance), produce a vasoconstriction reflex (narrowing of blood vessels) to the limbs. In plain language, this means that the inspiratory muscles signal to the cardiovascular system to divert blood from the working limbs when they themselves are subjected to fatigue.
